Opening Soon | Specialist part-time alternative provision in Stoke Newington | Early enquiries welcome

Education that makes re-engagement possible.
Praxis Academy
Praxis Academy is a specialist, part-time alternative provision being developed in Hackney, Stoke Newington for young people in Years 7 to 11. Our initial programme will provide small-group education for 8 to 12 pupils who need support to stabilise, re-engage with learning and prepare for a sustainable next step.
OUR PURPOSE
Progress must survive the journey back.
A successful alternative provision placement should not be judged only by how well a pupil settles within the provision. It should also be judged by whether the progress they make can be sustained when they return to school, move into another appropriate placement or progress towards their next destination. At Praxis, reintegration and transition are planned from the beginning, reviewed throughout the placement and supported through carefully phased steps.
OUR FOUR PILLARS OF SUPPORT
What each placement is designed to build
Stabilise
Establish safety, predictable routines and readiness to participate.
Re-engage
Rebuild attendance tolerance, trust in education and academic participation.
Equip
Strengthen regulation, executive functioning, confidence and independence.
Transition
Prepare for supported reintegration or another appropriate next destination.
Small enough for every pupil to be known.
THE INITIAL PRAXIS PROGRAMME
-
Praxis is preparing to open with a deliberately small overall cohort of 8 to 12 pupils. Teaching will normally take place in groups of no more than six.
-
Our anticipated core model includes a main class teacher and teaching assistant supporting each group. However, staffing arrangements and pupil-to-adult ratios will be determined by the assessed needs, risks and agreed support requirements of the individual pupils within each cohort.
-
Placements will be part-time, individually planned and linked to clear outcomes, including attendance recovery, academic re-engagement, improved regulation, increased participation, reintegration or supported transition.
A focused provision for pupils whose relationship with education has become fragile
Praxis is being developed for pupils in Years 7 to 11 who may be experiencing:
-
emotionally based school avoidance
-
anxiety-related non-attendance
-
autism-related barriers to participation
-
SEND or SEMH needs affecting engagement
-
a fragile or deteriorating mainstream placement
-
difficulty returning after sustained absence
-
reduced confidence, emotional regulation or trust in education
-
risk of placement breakdown or further disengagement

Praxis will not be suitable for every pupil. Suitability will be considered individually using available educational, safeguarding, SEND, attendance and risk information. The decision must be based on whether Praxis can safely and appropriately meet the pupil's needs, not simply whether a placement is available.
